New code criteria for 400 amp panels

Some cities and counties are updating the code years they are going by. This is a major concern for anyone looking at a 400 amp upgrade. Currently just Scottsdale is requiring a new style 400 amp panel that has no bussing for sub breakers unlike the current panels with a built in 30 to 40 space buss for breakers.
The new requirements will eventually hit all cities and counties for enforcement. The cost will increase substantially do to these requirements. The new code will create a need for all branch circuits to be located in a sub panel. Circuits will need to be relocated thus the added expense as well as the installation of the new sub panel. Prices will increase a minimum of $1,200.00
If you are considering a 400 amp panel upgrade I would suggest sooner than later as price could increase dramatically as the new code is enforced.
